Spanish Gypsy Scales (Phrygian Dominant)

The Spanish Gypsy Scale is a common name for the Phrygian dominant scale (a.k.a. Spanish phrygian). The tones in this scale are also the same as in the Harmonic Minor Scale but with different order - the A Harmonic Minor is, for example, relative to the E Spanish Gypsy.

The Spanish Gypsy Scale is often used in both flamenco and Turkish music. Other Gypsy scales are Hungarian Gypsy Scale and Minor Gypsy Scale. See also Eight Tone Spanish Scales.
