Scales source and guide for musicians
Dorian b2 is identical with the Dorian except from the flatted second. Besides being associated with Assyrian music, the scale is an exotic pick for jazz. It can be seen as a mode of the Melodic Minor Scale. For example, except from the order of notes, D Dorian b2 (D, Eb, F, G, A, B, C) is identical with C Melodic Minor (C, D, Eb, F, G, A, B).
The Dorian b2 (a.k.a. Dorian b9) is one of three altered Dorian scales. The other two are Dorian #4 (Ukrainian Dorian Scale) and Dorian b5.
