Augmented Scale

The Augmented Scale (a.k.a. Symmetrical Augmented Scale) consists of six notes. Therefore, it belongs to the category of hexatonic scales. The name of the scale is based on the fact that it is built upon two augmented chords. In the C Augmented Scale this would be C - E - G# (Caug) and Eb - G - B (Ebaug).

This scale should not be confused with Lydian Augmented.

Each scale is built upon two augmented chords and the relationship for all scales are as follows:

• C Augmented Scale - Caug and Ebaug
• C# Augmented Scale - C#aug and Eaug
• D Augmented Scale - Daug and Faug
• D# Augmented Scale - D#aug and F#aug
• E Augmented Scale - Eaug and Gaug
• F Augmented Scale - Faug and G#aug
• F# Augmented Scale - F#aug and Aaug
• G Augmented Scale - Gaug and A#aug
• G# Augmented Scale - G#aug and Baug
• A Augmented Scale - Aaug and Caug
• A# Augmented Scale - A#aug and C#aug
• B Augmented Scale - Baug and Daug.

Note that the Augmented Scale is hexatonic and the augmented chords triads.
