Scales source and guide for musicians
The Minor and Major Pentatonic scales can be combined, resulting in a hybrid scale. The Hybrid Pentatonic is often used when soloing over a
dominant seventh chord, which can involve notes from both the Minor and Major Pentatonic.
Since the Hybrid Pentatonic Scale involve notes from both Minor and Major Pentatonic, this scale consists of eight notes. The scale degrees from the Minor part are 1, b3, 4, 5, b7 whereas the scale degrees from the Major part are 1, 2, 3, 5, 6.
