Scales source and guide for musicians
The Dominant Bebop Scale (a.k.a. as the Mixolydian Bebop or the Jazz Dominant Scale) is one of four Bebop scales. The other three are Major Bebop, Minor Bebop and Dorian Bebop. As the name imply, this scale is well suitable for jazz and bebop especially. One of the common practices is to use the scale over a ii-V progression. For example, G Dominant Bebop scale over the chords Dm7 - G7 (backing track can be found below).
The interval for Bebop Dominant is 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7b, 7 (with the passing note between the 7th and the root), which is the same as Major or Mixolydian with one extra note.
