Spanish Gypsy Scales

The Spanish Gypsy Scale is a common name for the Phrygian dominant scale. The tones in this scale are also the same as in the Harmonic Minor Scale but with different order - the A Harmonic Minor is, for example, relative to the E Spanish Gypsy. Other Gypsy scales are Hungarian Gypsy Scale and Minor Gypsy Scale.

The Spanish Gypsy Scale is often used in both flamenco and Turkish music. Other Gypsy scales are Hungarian Gypsy Scale and Minor Gypsy Scale. See also Eight Tone Spanish Scales.
